My Iceland image was taken inside the Katla ice cave, where layers of volcanic ash, blue glacial ice, moss-covered rock and a meltwater stream created a dramatic natural scene. The photograph was captured handheld using a bracketed exposure technique to retain detail across the bright ice, dark ash and fast-changing light inside the cave.
My Norway image was taken at Pulpit Rock, overlooking Lysefjord. After camping near the viewpoint overnight, I used a drone at sunrise to capture the scale of the cliff edge, the fjord below and the early morning light moving through the landscape.
